Phillipe D'Orleans
James D'Arcy | Navy | Corsair/Privateer

nick names -
The Bastard
The Devil of House Orleans

age - August 24, 34

sexuality - Heterosexual

marital status - Single

current residence - France

defining features - Four Lorenzoni Triple Barreled Flintlock Pistols
Two Rapiers

skills and talents -
Phillipe is a master at lying and manipulating others to suit his needs and feels absolutely no remorse at any and all of his actions. He has a keen eye for opportunity and if he sees weakness he will strike without hesitation.

Phillipe is a skilled swordsman and shooter, if faced in combat he is a lethal foe whom few would survive though he is overly confident in his abilities. This makes him underestimate his opponents and makes his fighting sloppy at times.

Phillipe is quite skilled in all tasks relating to being a ships captain but he tends to leave that sort of work to his lackeys, there is a reason why you hire lackeys.

personality

Phillipe D'Orleans is what many would call a psychopath, he cares about no one and nothing but himself and his own well being. He is a cruel and violent man but he hides his darker aspects behind a facade of culture and charm, Phillipe is a man whom can be quite charming when he wants to be,  so charming that some actually disbelieve the stories going around him and his actions.

There is nothing that is too morally depraved for Phillipe, everything from murder to thievery is fine game in Phillipe's books as long as he can gain something from it. War for fun and profit is Phillipe's motto and he also believes that morality is for the weak, morality simply holds you back.

Phillipe has no loyalty to anyone but himself, while he claims all his actions are for the glory of the Kingdom of France and its king, Phillipe really does not give a shit about the king. He is more than willing to betray the Kingdom of France if he thinks he can get away with it and there is profit in it. This is exactly what he has done a few time, attacking French Merchants ships and killing everyone leaving no one to tell the story of his treachery.

history

Phillipe D'Orleans is the legitmate bastard child of a wealthy Ferdinand D'Orleans, a wealthy French nobleman of the house of Orleans. Due to being a member of the house of Orleans, Phillipe is a distant relative to the king of France. Originally his father tried to conceal his birth but after many years of failing to produce a legitimate heir, his father acknowledged Phillipe as his child and legitimized him.

The first years of Phillipe's life was harsh, he had to fend for himself that was until he was five when his father finally acknowledged his existence and legitimized him. Phillipe never really did like his father and as he grew up his dislike of his father simply grew. Eventually when Phillipe came of age, he arranged for his father to die in a hunting accident leaving Phillipe with his fathers fortune.

Once Phillipe obtained the fortune, he squandered most of it away gambling and drinking but eventually he got bored with that lifestyle so he bought himself a letter of Marque to operate as a corsair and then bought himself an aging first rate Ship of the Line which was being decommissioned by the French Navy.

Phillipe named his ship Les Démon, the ship could carry 100 guns if fully crewed. Once Phillipe finished getting things ready for his new life as a Corsair, he bid his time and took advantage of every opportunity to make money.

Once war broke out between France and England, Phillipe was overjoyed and this war has brought great profit to him at the expense of the English and occasionally the expense of his employers. Phillipe would at times attack French and Spanish ships if he believes he can get away with such an action and the rewards outweighed the risks.

Phillipe has over time obtained the reputation of being absolutely ruthless and cruel in his actions. He has become a person people tend to want to avoid dealing with unless absolutely necessary but at the same time he has the reputation of being efficient and would almost always get a job done if he is motivated enough by money.
